Poverty Point Artifacts

From the amazing collection of artifacts at Poverty Point …

Purely decorative?  Some kind of game piece?  Small enough to fit in the palm of your hand.  The circles made with … the cut end of a piece of cane?  Was the cube made then a search begun for the right diameter cane?  Did they have the cane then make the cube to fit?  Did they draw the circles free hand?

After it was created … then what?  On a shelf with other what nots?  Cherished heirloom?  Religious object?  Used in some late night, back alley game of chance?  What are the odds that it would survive until now?

They have the coolest stuff at Poverty Point.  So many mysteries!
